The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 will start in New Zealand on July 20, 2023 and end in Sydney on August 20, 2023. This will be the first time (out of nine editions) that the Women’s World Cup will be hosted in more than one nation.
How many teams will compete in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023?
There are 32 national women’s teams competing in the World Cup women’s tournament. The following teams qualified for the FIFA tournament: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China PR, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Korea Republic, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Philippines, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, Vietnam, Zambia.
What are the groups in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023?
There will be a total of eight groups of four teams with three women’s teams competing in a play-off tournament for the last three spots. The group draw results include:
- Group A: New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Switzerland
- Group B: Australia, Republic of Ireland, Nigeria, Canada
- Group C: Spain, Costa Rica, Zambia, Japan
- Group D: England, Play-off Group B Winner, Denmark, China PR

What is the Play-off Tournament?
Cameroon will face Thailand for the chance to play Portugal in the Group A final, while Chile will await the winners of Senegal-Haiti in Group B. In Group C, the winners of the Chinese Taipei-Paraguay and Papua New Guinea-Panama ties will square off for a seat in the Women’s World Cup.
