Washington Spirit Re-Signs Sam Staab

Washington Spirit announced this week that defender Sam Staab has signed a three-year contract with the team, replacing her current contract.

  • Staab is coming off her second career ‘Iron Woman’ season, having played every regular season minute of 2022 and all but one match of the 2022 Challenge Cup.
  • She also added a goal and an assist in 2022.
  • Washington drafted Stabb with the fourth overall pick in 2019.
  • Before her professional career, Staab attended Clemson University where she earned four All-ACC honors and ACC Defensive Player of The Year.

The Washington Spirit are preparing themselves for a season without key players due to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
